The original mandate of woodheat.org was to help householders to use wood energy successfully, safely and responsibly. All our information and services are free to the public, and we encourage the re-publishing of our material by other groups, individuals and media. More recently we have expanded our efforts to include The Woodpile, which is more activist by reaching out to interested people, companies, the media and policy makers with content mainly dedicated to defending the right to burn wood in responsible ways. Together woodheat.org and The Woodpile form a powerful combination to support and defend the public's responsible use of wood fuel. As with most nonprofit agencies, there is never enough money to do all the things we'd like to do. You can help by making a donation. The money will be used to support the further development of high quality content and to maintain an active dialogue with policy makers and regulators to ensure that wood heating is never seen as a fringe activity and therefore expendable. You'll get recognition on our Friends page.
