What is meant by the term changeout? |

Changeout means the removal and
destruction of an old, polluting wood stove and its replacement with an
advanced technology EPA certified stove. The result is savings to the
purchaser and cleaner air
for everyone. |

Is there an incentive for homeowners to
changeout their old wood stoves? |
 |
Yes. Stove manufacturers and retailers
offer discounts which together total between 10 and 15 per cent off the
purchase price of advanced technology stoves. |

What products qualify? |
 |
Any advanced technology, EPA certified
appliance. These include wood stoves, fireplace inserts, advanced
factory-built fireplaces and pellet stoves. |

Where can I go to see these new stoves and get
the discount? |
 |
If you live around the Georgian Bay area,
visit one of the participating retailers on this list. |
 |
Do I have to act soon? |
 |
Yes, the discounts are offered until April 30,
2001.

Who is in charge of the changeout program? |
 |
The Changeout is organized by the Hearth
Products Association of Canada, the trade association representing
companies that manufacture, sell, install and maintain woodburning
equipment. The project is co-sponsored by Environment Canada,
Natural Resources Canada and the Ontario Ministry of Environment.
The Ontario Lung Association and Wood Energy Technology Transfer are also
participating in the workshops that are
associated with the changeout project.
